Improving healthcare in adult probation services: Learning from Youth Offending Teams

This article reviews the development of healthcare provision in youth offending teams (YOTs), and implications this for improving adults supervised by probation. The Crime Disorder Act (1998) made funding a statutory requirement YOTs, presence most YOTs was significantly boosted collaborative commissioning initiative. There is no parallel initiative adult probation services. Only small proportion NHS clinical groups make specific investment population. Pockets settings exist, but not consistently. We argue that represents major social inequality.
